The meeting was attended by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Markov and Senate members of the Parliament of Malaysia.
The parties noted that the dialog between the leaders of our countries has a positive impact on interregional cooperation. The trade and economic relations develop, the partnership in academic and sport spheres strengthen. There remains a considerable potential for tourism development.
G.S. Poltavchenko invited partners to participate in the major events of St. Petersburg, the nearest of which is the 5th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum to be held in this December.
S.A. Vignesvaran expressed his interest in these suggestions. The Senate President of the Parliament of Malaysia noted that his country is ready to develop economic and academic cooperation. Now they are considering the possibility of learning of the Russian language at schools and universities. Malaysia intends to increase the number of students studying in Russia.
