During the meeting and workshops, experts discussed relevant issues of bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy and industry, investment, tourism and entertainment infrastructure, transport and transport infrastructure, sports.
The meeting was chaired by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg M.P. Mokretsov and the Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Mr. Xu Ruisheng. The moderator of the meeting was the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg I.O. Lonsky.
On the part of the province-partner the expert discussion was attended by the representatives of the Department of Commerce, Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Protection, Sports Bureau, Department of Education, Tourism Administration, Foreign Affairs Office, Department for External Relations of Department of Commerce, Department for External Relations and Overseas Chinese Affairs of Office of Public Sectors Reform as well as the representatives of the province business circles.
On the part of St. Petersburg the meeting was attended by the Acting Chairman of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg A.N. Voronko, the Deputy Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development R.N. Sachunova, the Deputy Director General of St. Petersburg state-financed institution "Agency for Strategic Investments" E.N. Gavrilov, as well as representatives of the Committee for Transportation, the Committee for Transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg, the Committee for Physical Culture and Sport of St. Petersburg.

Also, members of the Chinese delegation visited the SUE "Vodokanal of St. Petersburg", the hotel infrastructure objects of the city and under-construction part of Western High-Speed Diameter, where they met with representatives of the companies.

The Agreement on friendship and cooperation between the Government of St. Petersburg (the Russian Federation) and the People's Government of Guangdong Province (the People's Republic of China) was signed in January 2014 during the visit of the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko to Southern China.
In May 2014, the cultural and business mission of St. Petersburg took place in Guangdong Province (Guangzhou City, Shenzhen).
On 1 September, 2015, the first meeting of the bilateral Petersburg-Guangzhou expert task group took place in Guangzhou.
