    On June 24, Smolny hosted the meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E.D. Grigoriev and the Acting Chairman of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg A.N. Voronko with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Ioannis Amanatidis.

    The meeting was attended by the General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Maria Vlazaki, Special Representative of the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic for the "intermutual" Year of Russia and Greece Ilias Klis and the Consul General of Greece in St. Petersburg Panos Beglitis.

    Greek delegation's visit to St. Petersburg is timed to the opening of the State Hermitage Museum in the framework of the "intermutual" Year of Russia and Greece, the exhibition "Byzantium through the Centuries".

    During the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E.D. Grigoriev summed up the results of the St. Petersburg part of the "intermutual" Year of Russia and Greece program.   Including:

    - opening of the exhibition "The Greek paper icon" in the State Museum of the History of Religion on June 21;

    - International Medical Conference "Actual problems of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery" at the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University together with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athen on June 23 and 24; - Participation of the Greek writers in the St. Petersburg International Book Fair;

    -   Participation of the Greek delegation headed by the Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitrios Mardas in the XX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

    On this occasion, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E.D. Grigoriev asked the representatives of the Greek side to support the participation of the youth team "Olympiacos" from the Greek partner city of Piraeus in international soccer tournament "Cup of Friendship" (scheduled for 20-21 August 2016 in St. Petersburg, together with "Zenit" Football Club), as well as to support the participation of the creative teams of the top music schools from Athens, Thessaloniki and Piraeus in the annual festival "International Conservatory week" (22-29 October 2016).

    Among the upcoming events in the framework of the Year – Saint-Petersburg participation in the international tourism exhibition "Philoxenia" in Thessaloniki in September 2016, and the partners of Thessaloniki and the Peloponnese – in INWETEX-CIS TRAVEL MARKET International Tourism Fair in October 2016 in St. Petersburg; Days of St. Petersburg in Athens and Piraeus (1-2 November); the visit of the official delegation of St. Petersburg to Thessaloniki (18-20 November).

    The Acting Chairman of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg A.N. Voronko informed the Greek partners about the arranging of St. Petersburg theater seasons at the National Theatre of Greece in Athens on September 21-30; on the tour of Eifman Ballet (St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre of Boris Eifman) in the Athens Concert Hall "Megaron" from 31 October to 2 November; he suggested possible dates for the large-scale exhibition of Greek Modern Art in the "Manege" Central Exhibition Hall (November-December), timed to the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, and invited Greek colleagues to take part in the forum.
