    On June 7 there was an information seminar on "Cross Border Cooperation Program EU-Russia 2014-2020: Opportunities and Perspectives" in Saint-Petersburg Center for Import substitution and localization.

    The seminar was organized by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg in connection with the preparation for the launch of EU-Russia cross-border cooperation (CBC) programs for the period of 2014-2020.

    During the seminar, the representative of the Committee told the audience about the participation of St. Petersburg in the programs of CBC in the coming period. It was strongly emphasized that the interests of the city were clearly formulated within the framework of training programs for the new period, in accordance with the Strategy of economic and social development of St. Petersburg for the period up to 2030.

    The projects, in which St. Petersburg is going to take part, are aimed at developing of entrepreneurship, supporting of education and scientific research, environmental protection as well as border security.

    At the same time, special attention was paid to the equal pattern of participation of Russian project planners in the programs, which is provided by co-financing from the federal budget of the Russian Federation.

    The representatives of the CBC programs "Russia - South-East Finland", "Russia - Estonia" and "Russia - Latvia" and the program "Baltic Sea Region" also made their reports during the seminar.

    The main objective of the seminar was to inform potential project planners about the status of coming programs, the conditions of participation in open competitions for applications, the possibilities of use of the programs for the implementation of projects on the territory of St. Petersburg and the cross border regions of foreign countries.

    In addition, this seminar was a platform for communication of potential project participants, it provided an opportunity to sum up the situation and draw up a plan for the future.
