    May 31 – June 1, 2016 A visit of Australia's Ambassador to Russia Mr. Peter Tesch to St. Petersburg

    During the visit to Smolny, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg I.O. Lonsky met with P. Tesch. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in spheres of economics, higher education, education and culture, as well as the development of contacts between the partner cities of St. Petersburg and Melbourne.

    During the visit to Smolny, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg I.O. Lonsky met with P. Tesch. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in spheres of economics, higher education, education and culture, as well as the development of contacts between the partner cities of St. Petersburg and Melbourne.

    There also were meetings with the Deputy Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg V.O. Alimov, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of the Leningrad Region and the Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics I.A. Maksimtsev. P. Tesch attended the opening of the exhibition "Russian Anzacs: Threads of a Buried History" in the Martial Chamber of Tsarskoye Selo.

    Reference: The exhibition displays photographs and biographies of more than 30 Russian participants in Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought in the First World War. The exhibition organized by the Australian Embassy in Russia and the museum-reserve "Tsarskoye Selo" will be open until 30 September 2016.
