    On December 21-29, a delegation from St. Petersburg headed by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg O.A. Markov visited the cities of Xi’an and Beijing (the People's Republic of China)

    The delegation included representatives of the Committee for Investments of St. Petersburg, the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg and the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.

    The delegation included representatives of the Committee for Investments of St. Petersburg, the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg and the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg. The objective of the visit was to represent St. Petersburg at the events of VI Eurasian Economic Forum and the SCO Countries Commodity Fair held in Xi’an as well as to conduct negotiations with heads of the people’s governments of Xi’an and Shaanxi Province on establishing practical cooperation.

    A wide range of mutually interesting issues important for the facilitation of bilateral cooperation was covered in the course of the official meeting in Beijing. This visit was organized as a result of an agreement reached by the Governor of St. Petersburg G.S. Poltavchenko during his recent visit to the capital of China as a part of the delegation headed by the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin to attend a China-Russia summit.

    Background information: the Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation and the People’s Government of Beijing of the People’s Republic of China was signed on June 11, 2009.
