    On October 1-3, the Forum “St. Petersburg – Window to Ibero-America” was held in St. Petersburg

    The event was organized by the Government of St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg State University, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

    The Forum was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Ryabkov, the Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Mikhail Mokretsov, the Mayor of Managua (the Republic of Nicaragua) Daisy Torres, the Secretary General of the Ibero-American Secretariat Rebecca Greenspan, the Director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Davydov, heads and members of diplomatic missions from Latin-American countries in Russia, and representatives of the scientific communities of North and South Americas, Europe and Russia.

    A plenary meeting, thematic round tables and other events were held within the framework of the Forum. One of the focal points of the program was a meeting of the guests and the participants of the Forum with Mikhail Mokretsov, which was devoted to a constructive exchange of opinions on the current state and the outlooks on the relationship development of St. Petersburg with cities and countries of Latin America. M.P. Mokretsov stated that the Government of St. Petersburg is planning to facilitate cooperation between St. Petersburg and Latin-American counties, to search for new areas for interaction, and to diversify the volume of business. The willingness of the Administration of St. Petersburg to engage in further joint work was highly appreciated by the guests. Moreover, Days of Culture devoted to Latin-American countries will be held in our city in the near future as a result of an agreement reached by the participants of the meeting.

    The International Scientific Conference “Russia and Ibero-America in a Globalizing World: History and Modernity” was held as a part of the Forum (for more information about the conference - iberorus.com/forum2015).
