    Veterans of the Polar convoys from Arkhangelsk, Great Britain, Byelorussia and delegates from France and the USA were in Saint-Petersburg from August 29 till September 2, 2014

    Veterans came to the Northern capital for participation in events of the festival “Dervish -2014”, devoted to the 73rd anniversary of the first Union convoy arrival to Russia.

    Veterans came to the Northern capital for participation in events of the festival “Dervish -2014”, devoted to the 73rd anniversary of the first Union convoy arrival to Russia.

    Opening of the monument for “Heroic deed of marines of the Polar convoys of 1941-1945” in park in front of college of the State University of Sea and River Fleet named after admiral S.O. Makarov became the key event of the festival.

    Veterans of the Polar convoys visited Central Naval Museum and took part in press conference there and in presentation of books by Doctor of Military science M.P. Komarov “Lend-lease for maritime forces of the USSR” and by Dave Schwind “Blue sea. Red stars”, devoted to American marines, awarded the soviet orders and medals.

    In the frame of the programme the veterans also laid flowers at Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, took part in the ceremony of midday shot of alarm gun from the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress, viewed the exposition of historical vessel icebreaker “Krasin”, visited Consulate General of Great Britain and met the Petersburg pupils.
