    A delegation from Melbourne – sister-city of St. Petersburg visited our city on 18-26 June 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of sister-city partnership.

    The visit was organized with the support of the Melbourne City Council and the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.

    The orchestra comprises 70 amateur musicians, most of whom work in the medical sphere. The visit was organized with the support of the Melbourne City Council and the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.

    The visit marks the 25th anniversary of sister-city relations between Melbourne and St. Petersburg.     As part of the visit Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, had a meeting with the leaders of  Melbourne delegation. The meeting was also attended by John Butler, Commissioner to the Middle East, Africa, Turkey & Russia Government of Victoria; Melissa O`Rourke,  Australia`s Deputy Ambassador to Russia and Sebastian FitzLyon, Honorary Consul of Australia in St. Petersburg.

    Participants of the meeting noted extensive potential of cooperation between St.Petersburg and Melbourne. They expressed willingness to foster economic links and to develop academic exchanges as well as the links in healthcare and culture.

     The programme of the delegation`s visit also included a performance  in the State Academic Kapella of St Petersburg; professional meetings with representatives of the medical institutions of St Petersburg, representatives of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, the AdVita Charitable Foundation as well as a charity event in the State Museum Pavlovsk.
