From 22nd till 26th April 2014 the delegation of partner-city Limassol (Cyprus Republic) headed by the Mayor Andreas Christou had been visiting Saint-Petersburg.
From 22nd till 26th April 2014 the delegation of partner-city Limassol (Cyprus Republic) headed by the Mayor Andreas Christou had been visiting Saint-Petersburg. The delegation consisted of members of municipal council, representatives of government ministries – Ministry of energy, trade, industry and tourism of Cyprus Republic, Ministry of public works and communications and also representatives of Cyprus University of technologies.
In the frame of the visit on April 23 and 25 in Saint-Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (SPbNRU ITMO) and in The Bonch-Bruevich Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (SPbSUT) a regular round table on development of the project “Universities’ ideas – to cities’ practice” was held. The project is being implemented between Saint-Petersburg and Limassol taking into account the agreements of Cyprus University of technologies with these universities as well as with Saint-Petersburg Institute of Technology and Saint-Petersburg Institute of Hospitality.
In the course of round table the developments in the sphere of alternative energy, stable transport infrastructure, multipurpose system of city monitoring and improvement of city environment, provision of amenities were introduced.
On April 24 and 25 on the base of Saint-Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Education and Presidential Lyceum of physics and mathematics No.239 lections of the professor from Cyprus University of Technologies devoted to innovative methodology of mathematics teaching were held. On April 24 the Mayor of Limassol met with Vice-Governor O.A. Makarov in Smolny with participation of the Chairman of Committee for Science and higher school A.S. Maksimov and the Chairman of Committee for Education G.V. Vorobyova. Agreements with Limassol on further working out of proposition of Saint-Petersburg in the sphere of the solar energy in cooperation with Ministry of energy, trade and tourism of Cyprus Republic, on cooperation in exchange of experience in water purifying, arrangement of summer holidays for charity-children from Saint-Petersburg in July 2014 in Limassol, establishment of partnership between gymnasiums of Saint-Petersburg and Limassol, further development of ties in the sphere of culture and tourism were achieved.
On April 25 the Chairman of Saint-Petersburg Legislative Assembly V.S. Makarov received a visit from Mayor of Limassol Andreas Christou in Mariinsky Palace.
Consulate General of Cyprus Republic timed the festival “Cyprus on Neva bank” to the visit of Limassol delegation to Saint-Petersburg. On April 24 the Consulate arranged the exhibition of Cyprian caricaturists association in House of Writer, and on April 25 – the concert of chorus music in Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace.
