    According to this visit’s program, which takes place within the opening of "St. Petersburg Meetings in Tallinn 2013", Georgy Poltavchenko met with the Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar.

    In the course of talks they touched issues of bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and humanities. "St Petersburg and Tallinn are two Baltic Region pearls. Our cities are good friends and good neighbors, which are connected not only through long-standing partnership between enterprises and institutions, but also a sincere friendship between people, between families. St. Petersburgians love to visit Tallinn, the Estonian capital citizens are frequent St. Petersburg visitors" - said Georgy Poltavchenko. The governor noted that "the connection between St. Petersburg and Tallinn were never interrupted and today are brought up to a new level".

    The St. Petersburg foreign trade turnover with Estonia in 2012 increased by 38% as compared to 2011, and amounted to US$1.1 billion. Late last year, the Estonian St. John Church in St. Petersburg returned under its Diocese jurisdiction. There were successfully implemented training and professional development program for teachers of Tallinn educational institutions. The St. Petersburg students have a good opportunity through exchange programs to get acquainted with Tallinn sights. Georgy Poltavchenko thanked the Mayor of Tallinn for the warm welcome of St. Petersburg schoolchildren, which they received this time. Georgy Poltavchenko said that St. Petersburg and Tallinn are active participants in the Baltic Sea Region international cooperation processes. He invited the Tallinn leadership to join and support the idea of "St. Petersburg Baltic initiative". Its essence is to jointly prepare and implement various cultural and sport large-scale activities, projects and programs in Baltic Sea Region. Both parties in talks reached agreement for summer 2014 to organize "Tallinn Meetings in St. Petersburg".

    A new three-year Cooperation Action Plan between Helsinki and St. Petersburg signed. Governor Georgy Poltavchenko during the St. Petersburg delegation official visit to Helsinki today met with the Mayor of Finland Capital Jussi Payunenom. In the course of talks dealt with the development of multilateral cooperation between St. Petersburg and Helsinki celebrating this year its twentieth anniversary. Georgy Poltavchenko congratulated his colleague on his re-election as Mayor of Helsinki, noting that his continuation in that office would inure mutually beneficial and long-standing friendly relations of two cities.

    Governor expressed confidence that opened up the traditional St. Petersburg Days in Helsinki will serve to further strengthening of economic and humanitarian ties. In the course of talks Georgy Poltavchenko and Jussi Pajunen signed a new, three-Cooperation Action Plan between Helsinki and St. Petersburg for 2013-2015. Governor noted that the signing of this document is "significant event not only for our cities, but also for the entire Baltic Region".

     The new Action Plan gives priority to environmental protection, urban development, transport and logistics, health, education, youth policy, culture, sports and tourism. "I have no doubt that this policy document will bring our business and humanitarian relations to a new level. And our cities as good neighbors and reliable business partners will continue to be for other regions worthy example of fruitful cross-border cooperation" - said Georgy Poltavchenko.
