On February 14, 2013, at Smolny a ceremony of presenting the order “Star of Italy” with the grade of Commander to St. Petersburg Government member, Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations A. V. Prokhorenko.
The order was presented by Consul General of the Italian Republic in St. Petersburg L. Estero. As Italy`s representatives, Vice Consul of Italy`s Consulate General in St. Petersburg F. Cimellaro, Head of the Department of trade exchange development (ICE) in St. Petersburg C. Ferrari, Assistant of Italy`s Consulate General in St. Petersburg O. V. Bondarchuk took part in the ceremony as well.
L. Estero read out the text of the decree about the order, ‘…fulfilling his duties A. V. Prokhorenko has always shown friendly feelings and respect towards Italy, forming the city`s cultural identity. Mr. Prokhorenko has always rapidly responded to the enquiries of the Consular Agency in St. Petersburg and solved all the problems connected with protection of Italy`s citizens, support of Italian enterprises and promotion of Italy`s culture; A. V. Prokhorenko made a significant contribution to development of contacts between St. Petersburg and Italy, giving a special impulse to satisfaction of the Agreement for cooperation between St. Petersburg and several Italian cities including Milan, Genoa, Venice, Bari. His significant contribution to numerous cultural initiatives during the Year of Italian language and culture in Russia is worth mentioning as well”.
A.V. Prokhorenko assured that such an appreciation of his work as the Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations in development of St. Petersburg and Italy`s collaboration is largely achievement of his colleagues, partners in Italy`s cities and regions, all St. Petersburg residents, who are involved into the projects of collaboration. A. V. Prokhorenko stressed, that the city is aiming to continue such an active cooperation.
Information: Order “Star of Italy” (Ordine della Stella d’Italia) is a national award of the Republic of Italy. Till 2011 it was the order “Star of Italian Solidarity”.
Order`s status. The order is given for special achievements in development of friendly relationship and cooperation with Italy. The award is given by the President of Italy at the suggestion of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Since 2011 the order “Star of Italy” has 5 grades: Chevalier of the Grand Cross (Cavaliere di Gran Croce), Grand Officer (Grand’Ufficiale ), Commander (Commendatore), Оfficer (Ufficiale), Chevalier (Cavaliere).
