On 3rd of October 2012 a meeting was held in Smolny’s Committee of External Relations of Saint Petersburg with the Archbishop of Dodoni, Spiridon Katramados and the representative of the Greece Department of Education.
On 3rd of October 2012 a meeting was held in Smolny’s Committee of External Relations of Saint Petersburg with the Archbishop of Dodoni, Spiridon Katramados and the representative of the Greece Department of Education, the President of the Youth Foundation and Continuous Education, Philippos Lentzas, who were both on a visit to Saint Petersburg as participants of an International Touristic Expo, INVETEX.
The meeting was featured by the General Consul of Greece in Saint Petersburg, Theodoros Bizakis and the members of the Religious Associations Relations Department of the Saint Petersburg Governor Administration.
During the meeting the opinions on the situation in Greece were exchanged, as well as on the importance of development of spiritual ties on a contemporary level, the cooperation perspectives between Saint Petersburg and the regions of Greece, including the development of pilgrimage tourism (considering, amongst others, the activities by the Russian Athos Society; the efforts of the Greek diaspora of Saint Petersburg in restoration of temples; celebration of 300-year anniversary of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in 2013; holding the Russia-Greece cross-year in 2014). Upon the ending of the meeting, the Greek representatives were handed over a list of pilgrimage services in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region.
