    The Election Committee of the Philippines Visited St.Petersburg

    On August 20, 2012, in Smolny there was a conversation of I.B.Divinskiy, Acting Governor of St.Petersburg, and Rene V. Sarmiento, Head of the Philippines delegation.

    On August 20, 2012, in Smolny there was a conversation of I.B.Divinskiy, Acting Governor of St.Petersburg, and Rene V. Sarmiento, Head of the Philippines delegation.
    The meeting was attended by V.E.Churov, Chairman of the Central Election Committee of Russian Federation, and A.S.Puchnin, Chairman of St.Petersburg Election Committee.
    Discussed were the issues of cooperation of election committees of the two countries. The Philippines side was interested in the operation of the latest-technology electronic system of data transfer that was first tested in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Russia in 2011 and 2012.
    As a result of official actions, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Central Election Committee of Russian Federation and the Election Committee of the Philippines was signed.
    The main objectives of the agreement signed are the exchange of experience in technical support of elections and improving the electoral legislation.
