On April 16, A.V.Prokhorenko, Mmember of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, had at Smolny a conversation with N.Schmid, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Federal Land of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation and stressed the importance of regional cooperation to implement the agreements on the federal interstate level. The parties also agreed to pay more attention to dialogue in the area of small- and medium-scale businesses.

A.V.Prokhorenko stressed that “the Week of Germany became part of the cultural and business landscape of Petersburg in spring. We believe that both the Innovation Forum, which is going to take place in autumn 2012, and the St.Petersburg Partenariat 2013 will be interesting and worthy sites for small- and medium-scale enterprises of the federal states of Germany. Especially as Baden-Württemberg has a similar forum and a unique experience to strengthen the cooperation ties”.

Nils Schmid, Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg: “We are seeing a greater momentum in the development of St.Petersburg and are ready to expand our interaction. Land Baden-Wuerttemberg is represented in the Week by a large delegation of Germany, more than a hundred people: they are the business people, parliamentarians, scholars, and artists. Our work will focus on development of cooperation in the area of engineering, as well as knowledge transfer. We highly esteem the potential of partnerships and are going to sign several important documents during these days ”.
