On November 25, 2011, I.O.Lonskiy, Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, met in Smolny with Christoph Israng, Chief of the Central and Eastern Europe Department at the Federal Chancellor of Germany.
The visit of Christoph Israng was organized in the framework of a project “Russia–EU dialogue” of German Foundation of Konrad Adenauer.
At the meeting, the main directions of cooperation between St.Petersburg and the cities and regions of Germany were discussed.
The German side referred to the favorable response of German business circles and the representatives of government on the results of a recent visit of Peter Ramsauer, Transport and Construction Minister of Germany, to Moscow and St.Petersburg (November 14 and 15, 2011).
Christoph Israng also noted a strong interest of the German government in continuing the active and mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia.
