In the new academic year, Federal State Institution of Culture “National Museum of the History of Religion”, with the assistance of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, launched an educational touring-and-lecturing program “Together, We Are the Whole Country!”.

The program addresses the objectives at studying the subjects “History and Culture of St.Petersburg” and “Fundamentals of Religious Culture and Secular Ethics”: introduction to global and national cultural values within the historical and cultural dimension of St.Petersburg; introduction to the religious beliefs of the peoples of Russia, socio-psychological adaptation of children within the context of inundating migration, elaborating the skills of establishing good neighborly relations within the multiconfessional space.

The classes are held in the museum halls and in the city streets. The program involves 15 educational and religious institutions of the city. 27 classes for 290 students were held in November, and another 23 classes would be in December.

The educators point out the importance of the program for children, and its effectiveness. Non-traditional format used to deliver the knowledge via addressing the emotional world of the child and the opportunity to deal with the exhibits hands-on increases the involvement of the pupils in the process of training and allows for working with the handicapped children, thus helping their creative and social rehabilitation.

Further information can be obtained from the Department for Relations with Religious Associations at St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, tel. 273-4310, 273-0876.
