On October 25, 2011, St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations organized at Radio Russia State TV and Radio an inter-confession roundtable on “Religious Legislation in Russia: Past and Present”, devoted to the Day of National Unity on November 4, as a historical club.

The discussion was attended by the representatives of St.Petersburg Orthodox Theological Academy, the Higher Catholic Seminary “Maria – the Queen of the Apostles”, and the Theological Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria.

The participants were unanimous that Russia as a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional country traditionally featured the religious tolerance, the limits of which (except for certain periods of history) were expanded throughout the history of the country.

The interest shown by the audience of the broadcasting, teaches the importance of continued inter-confessional meetings to discuss the issues on inter-confession cooperation and public and social service of religious organizations in St.Petersburg.
