    The Cooperation of Germany and St.Petersburg in the Power Industry Sector Is Being Developed

    On October 6, 2011, Ferdinand von Weyhe, Acting Consul General of Germany in St.Petersburg, met at Smolny with O.B.Trishkin, Chairman of the Committee on Power Industry and Engineering, organized by the Committee for External Relations of St.Petersburg by the initiative of German Consulate General.

    The sides discussed the prospects of further cooperation between St.Petersburg and Germany in the area of power industry.

    In particular, they discussed the possible participation of German investors in the creation of wind-driven power plants in the Finnish Gulf to supply the electricity for the town of Kronstadt. Implementation of this project, according to O.B.Trishkin, would allow this district of St.Petersburg to become a so-called “Green City”.

    Ferdinand von Weyhe confirmed the great interest of German companies and leading experts, dealing with alternative energy, in possible involvement into similar projects in Russia. In the nearest future, General Consulate of Germany in St.Petersburg German is going to notify the German companies about a new initiative in St. Petersburg and to send them the information needed.
