On September 29, 2011, the opening ceremony of the IV International Festival of Amateur Theatre “The Theatre begins...” was held on the stage of Trainee Theatre in Mokhovaya Street. The festival takes place in St.Petersburg from September 28 through October 2, 2011.
On September 29, 2011, the opening ceremony of the IV International Festival of Amateur Theatre “The Theatre begins...” was held on the stage of Trainee Theatre in Mokhovaya Street. The festival takes place in St.Petersburg from September 28 through October 2, 2011.
Of more than 100 applications, nine teams from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland were invited to participate in the festival of 2011. The creative body of the Festival-2011 consists of about 200 people. G.S.Poltavchenko, Governor of St.Petersburg, mentioned in his official greeting to the organizers and participants of the festival, in particular, that “the festival contributes to strenghtening the humanitarian and cultural ties with our compatriots abroad, and promotes the genuine spiritual values”.
Official and contestant shows of the stagings will be held at Trainee Theatre in Mokhovaya Street. The festival program also includes numerous professional master classes and open discussing the presented performances with the jury. The festival is non-commercial, and the admittance to all festival events is free.

The festival is traditionally held with the assistance of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, within the framework of the St.Petersburg Government program on implementing the state policy concerning the compatriots abroad.
