    Venetian “Tempest” in St.Petersburg

    On July 5, 2011 within the confines of the Year of Russia-Italy Culture and Language, at the Hermitage Museum opened the exhibition paintings by Giorgione, “The Tempest” (1502–1503) from the collection of the Venetian Galleria dell'Accademia. The ceremony was attended by A.E. Busygin, Deputy Minister for Culture of Russia, P. Villari, Deputy Minister for Cultural Heritage of Italy, and A.D. Landi, Italian Ambassador in Russia. The participants were welcomed vy A.Yu. Manilova, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg.

    It is the second time in its history that “The Tempest” has left Italy, and its first exhibition in Russia. The exhibition is open until August 7 at the Apollo Hall of the Winter Palace.

    The response action will be an exhibition of paintings by Lorenzo Lotto from the Hermitage collection, to be held at the Galleria dell'Accademia.
