On May 13, 2011, V.I.Matvienko, St.Petersburg Governor, met in Smolny with Mr Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistani President, and the issues of cooperation of St.Petersburg and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were discussed.

Speaking to the businessmen, the President of Pakistan appreciated the level of development of Russian economy and invited St.Petersburg entrepreneurs to intensify their interaction with Pakistani market, both to create joint ventures and to export the articles of St.Petersburg production companies.
Vladimir Ivanovich Katenev, President of St.Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, provided the information about the prospects of trade and economic relations with Pakistan.
