    Municipal Commissioner of Greater Mumbai Visited St.Petersburg

    On March 19 through 26, 2011, Mr Subodh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner of Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (Republic of India) visited St.Petersburg by the invitation of the Committee for External Relations.

    On March 19 through 26, 2011, Mr Subodh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner of Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (Republic of India) visited St.Petersburg by the invitation of the Committee for External Relations.

    The main purpose of the visit of the newly-appointed Municipal Commissioner of the partner city of Mumbai was to familiarize with the experience of St.Petersburg concerning the policies of ecological security and environment protection.

    During the visit, S. Kumar took part in the activities of the program “Petersburg Environment Week”, where he delivered a lecture on “Ecology of the Big City ”; he held talks with Nikolay Sorokin, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Environment Protection, and Ecological Safety, and managers of Vodokanal St.Petersburg.

    During the conversation with Alexander Prokhorenko, Member of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of the for External Relations, the development of effective bilateral cooperation was discussed, an agreement was reached to draft a program of joint activities of St.Petersburg and Mumbai, which should be approved at a regular meeting of the heads of friendly cities of BRIC (Rio de Janeiro, Saint Petersburg, Mumbai, Qingdao) in May 2011 in Qingdao (China).
