    Seminar “The Finnish-Russian Arctic partnership”.

    On February 9, 2011, the Russian Geographical Society in St.Petersburg hosted a seminar devoted to Finnish-Russian Arctic partnership.

    On February 9, 2011, the Russian Geographical Society in St.Petersburg hosted a seminar devoted to Finnish-Russian Arctic partnership.
    The event was organized by the Arctic Council. To participate in the seminar, invited were Hannu Halinen, Ambassador of Finland responsible for Arctic Arrairs, Anton Vasiliev, Representative of Russian Federation in the Arctic Council, government representatives from Russia and Finland, and CEOs of large private companies operating in the Arctic. The seminar was also attended by G.A.Zakharova, Chief Expert of the Department on Northern and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and Israel at St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.
    The seminar was opened with welcoming remarks made by Alexander Stubb, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, I.I.Klebanov, Plenipotentiary Representative of President of Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, and A.N.Chilingarov, Special Representative of President of Russian Federation on International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic.
    At the seminar, a political dialogue took place, as well as discussion of cooperation in the area of Arctic technology, research, and environment protection in the Arctic.
