On December 10, 2010, A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relation, met in Smolny with Mr Aivars Groza, Consul General of the Republic of Latvia in St.Petersburg.
A.V. Prokhorenko congratulated Mr Groza on taking his office, and mentioned that the cooperation between St.Petersburg and Latvia is a very successful and effective, both in economic and humanitarian spheres.
It was stressed that the Government of St.Petersburg is set to a constructive dialogue to address the existing problems on the basis of mutual respect and considering the interests of both parties.
At the meeting, discussed were the prospects of further cooperation, including the joint activities within the framework of cross-border cooperation between the European Union and Russia, “Estonia–Latvia–Russia”.
At the end of the conversation A.V. Prokhorenko wished Mr A. Groza every success at the position of Consul General of the Republic of Latvia, and expressed the hope that his activities will contribute to the further development of the Petersburg–Latvian relations.
