On September 14, 2010, I.O. Lonskiy, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, met with the participants of summer-autumn school «The Social Life of Modern Russian Cities» for German students.
This educational program is run at the Faculty of Sociology at St.Petersburg State University and is being implemented with the support of German Academic Exchange Service DAAD, within the framework of a student initiative «Go East».
During 2 weeks, German and Austrian students majoring in social and political sciences are making themselves acquainted with the leading sociological centers of the city, hearing lectures at the Faculty of Sociology, and participating in a rich cultural program. The training is offered in German and English. The program also includes the classes in Russian language.
At the meeting in Smolny, the students of the program were introduced the main directions of international co-operation of St.Petersburg with the cities and regions of foreign countries, including the cooperation in the area of youth exchanges.
