    Presentation of a Printed Collection of Essays "St.Petersburg–India: History and Contemporaneity"

    On January 27, 2010 a press conference on the review of cooperation of St Petersburg and the Republic of India was held, as well as the presentation of a printed collection of the essays "St.Petersburg–India: History and Contemporaneity".

    Organizer: St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, with the support of the hotel "Ambassador".

    The presentation of the book was timed to the Day of the Republic of India – January 26, which is celebrated as a major national holiday since 1950.

    Collection of information and analytical materials "St.Petersburg–India: History and Contemporaneity" was the sixth in a series "St.Petersburg and the World", produced by the publishing house "European House" with the support of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. Previous items of the series were devoted to the historical perspective and current issues of interaction of St.Petersburg and Finland, China (two volumes of "Three Centuries of Contacts" in Russian and Chinese languages), Germany, Holland, and USA.

    The speeches were made by:
    • A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, Ph.D., chief editor of the collection,
    • N.V. Lukichev, a councellor at the Representative Office of Foreign Ministry in St.Petersburg, • Radhika K. Lokesh, Consul General of India in St.Petersburg
    • V.N. Pleshkov, Director of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences,
    • S.B. Koreneva, "St.Petersburg and the World" Project Manager, a leading specialist of the Office of External Relations of St.Petersburg Scientific Center at RAS,
    • E.N. Kalshchikov, Director of publishing house "European House",
    • A.V. Sharapov, General Director of hotel "Ambassador".

    Invited were the authors of articles, experts, scientists, representatives of the Consulate General of India in St.Petersburg.

    The introduction for the collection of scientific and informational materials "St.Petersburg–India", by A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.
