    Anna Bligh, Prime Minister and Minister for the Arts of the State of Queensland (Australia), Visited St.Petersburg

    On October 16–17, 2009, Mrs Anna Bligh, Prime Minister and Minister for the Arts of the State of Queensland (Australia), visited St.Petersburg. Her first visit to St.Petersburg took place in 2005, when she held the position of Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and Minister for State Development, Employment and Innovation in Queensland.

    On October 16–17, 2009, Mrs Anna Bligh, Prime Minister and Minister for the Arts of the State of Queensland (Australia), visited St.Petersburg. Her first visit to St.Petersburg took place in 2005, when she held the position of Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and Minister for State Development, Employment and Innovation in Queensland.

    In recent years, the contacts of St.Petersburg and Queensland were established in the area of science and higher education. Thus, an Agreement between the St.Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance and University of Queensland (Brisbane) was signed in May 2009.

    During the current visit, A. Bligh met with A.I. Vakhmistrov, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg, and the prospects were discussed concerning the cooperation in economy and culture, science and higher education, and tourism.

    A. Bligh also met with the administration of the State Hermitage Museum and participated in a city-wide volunteered clean-up.
