    A Stage of the IX International Katyn Motorcycle Rally Held in St.Petersburg

    On September 8 through 10, 2009, a stage of the IX International Katyn Motorcycle Rally was carried out in St.Petersburg, in memory of the Poles perished during World War II and buried outside Poland.

    On September 8 through 10, 2009, a stage of the IX International Katyn Motorcycle Rally was carried out in St.Petersburg, in memory of the Poles perished during World War II and buried outside Poland.

    During their sojourn in St.Petersburg, the rally participants laid flowers at the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery, where the Alley of Memory was established in 2004 that included a memorial plate to the Poles – the defenders of Leningrad. The ceremony was attended by I.O. Lonskiy, Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.

    Polish motorbikers also visited Levashovskoe Cemetery, met with the St.Petersburg motorsport enthusiasts at the “7th Northern Fort”, made a stop at the Palace Square, and met with Mr. Jaroslaw Drozd, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in St.Petersburg, and the representatives of cultural and educational community “Polonia”.

    The next stage of the IX International Katyn Motorcycle Rally will be held on the territory of Estonia.
