    T. Halonen, President of Finland, visited St.Petersburg

    Within the framework of the XIII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, T. Halonen, President of Finland, visited St.Petersburg, by the invitation of D.A. Medvedev, President of Russian Federation.

    Within the framework of the XIII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, T. Halonen, President of Finland, visited St.Petersburg, by the invitation of D.A. Medvedev, President of Russian Federation.

    During the visit, a meeting of D. Medvedev with T. Halonen took place, during which current issues of relations between Russia and Finland were discussed. The meeting was attended by V.I. Matvienko, Governor of St.Petersburg .

    A regular session of the Group of Finnish Advisors at the Government of St.Petersburg was held during the forum. At the session, St.Petersburg was represented by A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, and S.D. Bodrunov, Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade. During the session, the prospects of St.Petersburg and Finland cooperation were discussed, as well as the ways to jointly counteract the negative impact of the recession on the economy.

    On June 5, an agreement was signed between St.Petersburg Government, SUE «Vodokanal of St.Petersburg», Nordic Investment Bank, European Bank or Reconstruction and Development, and the European Investment Bank on the support for the project of the program to stop the dumping of untreated St.Petersburg sewage into the Neva River - Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea).
