    The Exhibition «Seventeen Centuries of Czech Garnet» Is Opened

    The exhibition «Seventeen Centuries of Czech Garnet» is opened in the Marble Hall of Russian Ethnographic Museum, for the period from February 11 till March 1. The exhibition, presented to the Petersburgers by the National Museum of Czech Republic and Consulate General of Czech Republic in St.Petersburg, is timed to the presidency of Czech Republic in the European Union.

    The exhibition «Seventeen Centuries of Czech Garnet» is opened in the Marble Hall of Russian Ethnographic Museum, for the period from February 11 till March 1. The exhibition, presented to the Petersburgers by the National Museum of Czech Republic and Consulate General of Czech Republic in St.Petersburg, is timed to the presidency of Czech Republic in the European Union.

    The last exhibition of so large a scale, based on the collections of Czech museums, was in St.Petersburg more than 30 years ago. The exhibition features 300 artefacts of the V–XXI centuries, the majority of which are kept in the National Museum in Prague, as well as certain items from the collections of other museums and from the church assets. Visitors can see the ancient jewels once belonged to renowned historical figures, products of Bohemian glass sprinkled with garnet, religious utensils, haberdashery, and dishware.

    The exhibition is held under the patronage of Premysl Sobotka, Chairman of the Senate of Czech Republic Parliament, Vaclav Eglicka, Minister for Culture of Czech Republic, and V.Tyulpanov, Chairman of Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg.
