    St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry held seminar on Vietnam-Russian Federation trade promotion

    On June 8, 2018 the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a seminar on Vietnam-Russian Federation trade promotion.

    The event was attended by more than 100 representatives of the business community, government agencies and regions of Vietnam. Among them the Chairman of the people's Committee of the province of Laokai Dang Xuan Phong, Vietnam's trade Advisor to Russia Duong Hoang Minh, representatives of the Vietnam trade Promotion Agency Tran Kim Oanh and Le Hoang Thai.

    Adressing the audience the representative of the Committee for external relations Alexander Balabanov noted that the relations between Russia and Vietnam have reached a qualitatively new level over the past few years. This applies to relations in various fields: political, economic, cultural and educational. It is especially important that these relations have a rich history.

    "Recently we celebrated the 95th anniversary of the first arrival of comrade Nguyễn Ái Quốc in Petrograd. The friendship, the foundations of which he laid, we continue and multiply," - he said.

    Vietnamese Trade Councilor in Russia Duong Hoang Minh, for his part, said that the agreement on free trade between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union signed in 2015 has already a powerful positive effect. Trade turnover between Russia and Vietnam in 2017 up 35 percent year on year, reaching the highest level since 1991. Last year it exceeded USD 5 billion. The growth continues this year - it reached 15% in the first quarter.

    During the bilateral meetings, the participants discussed the prospects of expanding bilateral trade, technology exchange and investment cooperation.
