    Art Exhibition Dedicated to Ho Chi Minh Opens in City Governor's Office

    On November 28, 2017 an exhibition "Ho Chi Minh in the works of honored artist of the RSFSR AP Kuznetsov" opened in in City Governor's Office - Smolny.

    The exhibition is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the first arrival of Nguyen AI Kuok (Ho Chi Minh) in St. Petersburg and opens a series of significant anniversary events.

    The exhibition presents paintings by A.P. Kuznetsov, including two portraits of Ho Chi Minh, painted from life, a portrait of the warrior Dien bien Phu, the figure of a girl in a national MEO costume, characteristic landscapes of the surroundings of Hanoi in those years.

    The exhibits are provided by the family of the honored artist.

    The exhibition will last until December 11.

    Alexey Petrovich Kuznetsov (1916-1993) - member of USSR Union of artists, Professor of Hanoi Academy of arts, veteran of the great Patriotic war, veteran of labor.

    From 1946-1992 he taught at the B. V. Johansson’s Secondary art school of the Leningrad Academy of arts, of which he was its Director for 30 years. A well-known teacher, 45 years gave the education of a new generation of artists who have left a marked mark on the history of Russian art.

    In 1960, taking into account the great experience of a talented teacher and artist, the Ministry of culture of the USSR sent A. P. Kuznetsov for two years to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam to organize the national art school and to form painting on a realistic basis at the Hanoi art Institute.

    Beeing proficient in the French language, A. P. Kuznetsov freely communicated with Ho Chi Minh and other political figures and artists of Vietnam. His portraits of Ho Chi Minh, painted from life, are widely known.

    An author created a gallery of portraits of Vietnamese people and landscapes, more than 100 paintings and drawings as well.

    The artist's works were shown at solo exhibitions in Hanoi, and in 1966 in the exhibition hall of the Union of artists in Leningrad. Some of the works remained in the Museum of Hanoi, where A. P. Kuznetsov was awarded the title of Professor of the Hanoi Academy of arts.
